We are Imani Baptist Church
The Imani Baptist Church officially began its work on the first Sunday in January 1997. On that first Sunday, 210 Christians met to worship and embrace the vision of ministry given of the Lord to Pastor Willis Garnett Polk, I. The church became firmly rooted in the community and could be found everywhere doing many many things in a rather short period of time.
The growth of the church is clearly a result of its commitment to Discipleship Training, Evangelism/Outreach that has many many looks. There is a great emphasis on Christian Fellowship and Ministry Work that seeks to meet the needs of persons wherever they might be. And of course, there is a wonderful, vibrant Worship experience each week that keeps us all encouraged and inspired.
As we all know, this season we are in is not good on many levels. At the time of this writing, it is 2021. The Church, the country, and the world we live in have been turned upside down by the Corona Virus, COVIT-19. Everyone’s work has been greatly diminished, even the church. There are very few things operational at this time that shows the work and activities of the church.
However, we are still at work on a few levels and are determined to continue taking care of the Saints, preaching the Word, and seeing to it that we remain steadfast and unmovable always abounding in the work of the Lord.
THE IMANI MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH
OUTREACH “IN THE COOL OF THE DAY MINISTRY”
Rev. Willis Polk, senior Pastor, and creator of “In The Cool Of The Day Ministry” launched this work the same day Governor of the State announce, “no public gatherings”, including the church. This occurred on March 21, 2020. It was clear that there would be a need for the Imani Church family to develop a way for all to remain connected in a rather none traditional way.
The “In the Cool of the day ministry’ was launched and appeared online, initially, seven days a week at 9:30 pm each night for 30 minutes. Pastor Polk felt like the church members would want someone to speak to the unexpected shift in how we would be living for the unforeseeable future.
At this time, Oct. 2021, it has been a year and a half with no end in sight. Rev. Polk has made over 300 presentations with a pretty steady following that not only includes the Imani Church Family around the Lexington community, but the reach is also across the State and around the country. Persons from New York to Florida, Texas, and California are with us both daily and weekly.
The two basic aims of the podcast are to give voice to the events of the day and the week. This will include both local and national news. We even hear directions on International affairs. And then, second, there is always this closing insight on an inspirational point or two just to give the Saints of God a viewpoint that will keep one strong and encouraged to go onward and upward.
Follow us, now, each Monday night on the Imani Missionary Baptist Church Facebook page at 9:00 pm. Following are a few testimonies concerning the journey a few have made with us.
